NEWS
AQUS® consulting and engineering services are relaunched internationally in cooperation with local partners.
AQUS® Services
AQUS®, SKU Evaluator® and ClearAmine® consulting services are designed to assess the efficacy and robustness of water treatment systems in preventing and responding to critical incidents. Our mission is simple: keep pools open, and make them safer.
Our scientific and engineering services include:
- AQUS® Site evaluation and benchmarking (incl. WAPOTECH® Start-up process™)
- SKU Evaluator® Site evaluation and benchmarking (incl. SKU Evaluator®Crypto Stress Test™)
- ClearAmine® Site evaluation and benchmarking (incl. ClearAmine® DBP Stress Test™)
AQUS® specifically trains operators and other personnel at recreational facilities by providing:
- AQUS® and WAPOTEC® training (virtual and on-site)
- SKU Evaluator® site-specific field training focused on crypto(sporidium)/giardia incident management
- ClearAmine® site-specific field training on disinfection by-product (DBP) management
SKU Evaluator® and AQUS® technical planning and engineering services are also provided through our qualified network of local partners and installers.
AQUS®Monitor
Once a site is evaluated, rated and benchmarked using the SKU Evaluator®, HydroQuant® and AQUS® technology and equipment (e.g. electronic sensors/transformers, electrodes, probes and photometric detectors) connected to the AQUS® Monitor, an electronic aparatus used to measure residuals (particularly in multi-pool complexes), collect data and uploads them to our dedicated AQUS®/SKU Evaluator® Server.
- Live pool performance monitoring
- (Suspected) Crypto outbreak detection
- Live support to handle (suspected) LBMs
- Deviation screening
When undesirable situations (e.g. suspected Loose Bowl Movements - LBM incidents) are detected by server logarithms, the server triggers alarms that warn operators of any suspected conditions.
AQUS® also created a electric and manual AQUS® cleaning unit for water treatment equipment including the AQUS® Monitor.
AQUS® pool sensor calibration solutions as well as original spare parts can be provided.
AQUS®Logbook
Mobilize your logs and maintenance scheduling with the AQUS®Logbook and make your work life easier. This set of online tools is designed to help operators to organize and coordinate data logging and scheduled maintenance duties. It supports preventative maintenance and helps operation systems to become more reliable. The AQUS®Logbook App (www.mylogbook.com, opens new window) features
- Virtual log book for multiple pools
- Virtual service/maintenance schedules
- Log reports
The AQUS®Logbook App also provides numerous options for customization of data recorded based on regulatory requirements and site criteria. Implement your own routines into a solid data framework. It is a perfect tool to manage an aquatic facility through your own mobile and/or desktop devices (B.Y.O.D.).
CETTAOX® & CETTAFLOC®
CettaOx® is a modified chlorite solution, which is used to oxidize contaminants in swimming pool and spa water treatment. CettaOx® helps to minimize the formation of disinfection-by-products (DBPs) through precursor oxidation, typically in combination with enhanced CETTAFLOC® flocculation filtration for improved removal. Pool water and air quality in swimming pools are thus improved sustainably.
Other CettaOx® branded products are used as additives for balneology, for skin disinfection and for general hygiene applications, products for veterinary use and for cosmetics, further as algaecides as well as bleaching agents (eg. CettaOx®Chlorine).
CETTAFLOC®Dosing units are designed for precise, continuous flow proportional addition of chemicals for water treatment.
Site specific CettaOx® & CETTAFLOC® maintenance, installation, consulting and engineering services are carried out in cooperation with local partners in Europe and North America.
ClearAmine® Air Quality Monitor
ClearAmine® is a compact, intelligent air monitoring unit designed to assess and forecast airborne trichloramine (NCl₃) levels in indoor pool environments. Trichloramine poses health risks to staff and guests and can cause significant corrosion damage to infrastructure (see Glossary for more information).
The ClearAmine® system collects real-time environmental data via an integrated sensor platform and transmits it to the AQUS® Server, where proprietary algorithms calculate a validated NCl₃ surrogate value. Data logs, predictive values, and HVAC control signals are accessible through the ClearAmine® App and IoT Hub.
ClearAmine® supports preventive facility management, helps ensure regulatory compliance, and improves air quality, enhancing both occupational safety and guest comfort.
GLOSSARY
What are DBPs?
DBPs (Disinfection By-Products) are chemical compounds formed when disinfectants (typically chlorine) react with organic matter present in water. These organics can include sweat, urea, body oils, cleaning agents, and naturally occurring substances like humic acid.
Many DBPs are volatile and evaporate into the air (particularly THM, NCl₃, cyanogen chloride), contributing to unpleasant odors and indoor air quality issues for patrons and staff.
Some compounds, such as chloroform and trichloramine, are suspected to pose health risks upon long-term exposure, especially for competitive swimmers and pool facility staff regularly exposed to high concentrations (see also CDC, opens new window).
What is Trichloramine (NCl₃)?
Trichloramine (nitrogen trichloride, NCl₃) is a volatile and irritating by-product that forms in indoor pools when chlorine reacts with nitrogen-based contaminants such as ammonia, sweat, and urea.
Unlike free chlorine, which disinfects water, trichloramine escapes into the air and accumulates in indoor pool halls, particularly just above the water surface.
It is known to cause:
Eye, skin, and respiratory irritation
Coughing and asthma-like symptoms
Corrosion of metal structures, light fixtures, and electronic systems
Trichloramine exposure is a major concern for both frequent swimmers and pool staff, and many health authorities across Europe have begun to recommend or enforce exposure limits.
Monitoring and reducing airborne trichloramine is essential for protecting health, comfort, and facility infrastructure.
What is Crypto (Cryptosporidium parvum)?
Cryptosporidium parvum is a protozoan parasite that infects humans and animals and can persist in aquatic environments for long periods in the form of oocysts.
Transmission typically occurs via fecal contamination of pool water. A “Loose Bowel Movement” (LBM) incident in a pool may indicate a crypto risk.
Crypto is highly resistant to chlorine, which means that standard disinfection is often ineffective. In the event of a suspected outbreak, special remediation procedures must be followed to prevent infection and restore safe swimming conditions (see also the CDC, opens new window).
